!!! Jai Jawan Jai Kisan !!!

Jai Jawan Jai Kisan - Who gave this popular slogan to India ? ....The moment this question strikes the ear drum the tongue rotates and the answer is Lal Bahadur Shastri...But friends do we remember birthday of this great social reformer, freedom fighter , writer and second prime minister of India.
Indian goverement has deliberately neglected the giant leader and Shastri Saga, so is the generation after generation following.
!!! Let me give u a brief history of this eminent leader !!!
Lal Bahadur Shastri was born on October 2,1904, India’s second Prime Minister and a man with strong detirmination. Though born in a deprived family he rose to political eminence purely on the strength of moral principles.
Jai Jawan Jai Kisan was a slogan given by Lal Bahadur Shastri in 1965. It means hail the soldier and hail the farmer. Soon after Shastri took over the prime minister ship of India after Nehru's death India was attacked by Pakistan . We were in drought like situation ....there was scarcity of food grains in country. Shastri gave the slogan Jai Jawan Jai Kisan to excite the soldiers to defend India and simultaneously cheered the farmers to do their best to increase the production of food grains to reduce dependence on import .
Other famous quotes :
"If one person gives up one meal in a day, some other person gets his only meal of the day", spoken during the food crisis to encourage people to evenly distribute food.
"Perhaps due to my being small in size and soft of tongue, people are apt to believe that I am not able to be very firm. Though not physically strong, I think I am internally not so weak."
Some great statement given by Shastri Jee.
The Indo-Pak war ended on 23 September 1965 with a United Nation-mandated ceasefire. In a broadcast to the nation on the day the of ceasefire, Shastri stated:

While the conflict between the armed forces of the two countries has come to an end, the more important thing for the United Nations and all those who stand for peace is to bring to an end the deeper conflict... How can this be brought about? In our view, the only answer lies in peaceful coexistence. India has stood for the principle of coexistence and championed it all over the world. Peaceful coexistence is possible among nations no matter how deep the differences between them, how far apart they are in their political and economic systems, no matter how intense the issues that divide them.
Today in 2009 the sacrifice given by this great leader has been completed ignored by most of us.
Most surprising thing is that ....i tried to google on Lal Bhadur Shastri and results of the search astonished me.There were number of sites and blogs dedicated towards the steply behavior of Indian Goverment towards Shastri Jee.
Through my blog I would request to all my fellow country men to pay equal homeage to all fredom fighter. We should not be biased towards the leaders for whom Goverment has given holidays.
One more important note before logging out : Birthday of Bhagat Singh !!
